Tech to overcome Uttar Pradesh government’s oxygen shortage woes

The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has badly hit the supply of liquid medical oxygen in the hospitals and many states are reeling under acute shortage of oxygen supply. In view of the increasing demand of oxygen, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched the ‘Oxygen Monitoring System for UP’ platform to ensure hassle-free and timely oxygen supply to government and private hospitals in the state.

The digital portal, which was recently launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will track real-time location of vehicles supplying oxygen to the hospitals in the state.

Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh said, “We have set up an Oxygen monitoring system amid the increasing number of Covid-19 cases. Under this system, a Command Control Centre has been opened at the Home Department, Lucknow. Through this, Management Information System’s (MIS) daily, live report on movement of Oxygen tankers can be monitored and viewed on a map. Software’s dashboard will analyse and inform if the tanker is getting delayed – either in filling or in transportation.”
